About the role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll architect and build the core services that power eraborn — the APIs, data flows, and infrastructure behind both the Eve consumer copilot and the clinic operations platform. You'll be handling sensitive health data, so reliability, security, and correctness aren't nice-to-haves: they're the job. You'll work closely with our data science and full-stack engineers to serve LLM-driven features at scale, and you'll have real ownership over technical decisions. We're looking for someone senior enough to set patterns, mentor others, and make pragmatic trade-offs in an early-stage environment.

What we're looking for

Senior-level backend experience building and operating production services at scale.

Strong command of a modern backend stack (e.g. Python, Node, Go) and relational and non-relational data stores.

Experience designing clean, well-documented APIs and event-driven or service-oriented architectures.

Solid grounding in security and data privacy — ideally with exposure to healthcare or other regulated, sensitive-data environments.

Comfort integrating and serving LLM / AI features (vector stores, model APIs, retrieval pipelines) in production.

Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS/GCP), CI/CD, observability, and a healthy bias toward automation.

Pragmatism for early-stage work and the maturity to know when to harden and when to ship.

Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs across our products.

Model and safeguard sensitive health data with security and compliance front of mind.

Build the infrastructure that serves AI/LLM features reliably and affordably.

Set engineering standards — code quality, testing, observability, on-call health.

Collaborate with data science and full-stack engineers to deliver end-to-end features.

Optimize for performance, cost, and scalability as usage grows.

Mentor teammates and help shape our backend architecture and team.
